Wanting some peace and quiet, and an opportunity to sit back and read a book, while listening to the gentle lapping of Lake Taupō's.Then I recommend Wharewaka. But, instead of turning right towards the playground and public toilets, carry on straight on Wharewaka road until you see a small carpark to your left, and a smaller road indicated in the image. Turn left and follow the road, when it ends you'll see uniterrupted views of the lake, and beautifully clean, pristine beaches and water. Choose a spot, and let the sounds of this special awa soothe your soul.
